Watercolor Pencils
Watercolor pencils are both watercolor drawing and painting tools. They look like a regular drawing pencil, but instead of graphite, they contain a water-soluble "lead" that dissolves in water. They are usually less expensive than traditional watercolors, and are especially easy to use when traveling.
There are several methods of using watercolor pencils. They may be used to draw a picture and then blend the colors with a wet paintbrush. A tip of the pencil can be broken off and water applied to make a pool of paint. A wet brush can be rubbed over the pencil and then used to paint on the paper. The harder the pencil is pressed when drawing on the paper, the darker the color will appear when wet.
